The Pledge : transparency.coffee
Stratton Nzaramba, the manager of Humure Coffee Washing Station, has become an essential part of the success story behind one of Baho Coffee’s most impressive stations. While Humure was once seen as unlikely to yield exceptional quality due to its dry climate and flat terrain, Stratton’s meticulous leadership has proved otherwise. Under his care, Humure has consistently produced standout lots, and his commitment to excellence ensures traceability and quality across every batch that passes through his station. Emmanuel Rusatira, founder of Baho Coffee, credits Stratton’s day-to-day oversight as crucial to the station’s ability to deliver such strong coffees year after year.
The relationship between Emmanuel and Stratton reflects the core values Baho Coffee was built on: community, accountability, and mutual growth. Emmanuel recognized early on that true traceability in Rwanda would only be possible with trusted station managers like Stratton at the helm. This inspired the creation of special washing station manager blends, which highlight not only the coffees from the manager's own farm but also those collected from nearby producers under their care. By spotlighting Stratton in this way, Baho is reshaping the way recognition is distributed throughout the supply chain, ensuring that these vital individuals get the credit they deserve.
Humure itself has transformed under Emmanuel’s vision and Stratton’s management: with ongoing investments in infrastructure, producer training, and gender equity, Humure exemplifies Baho’s mission to build sustainable, community-driven coffee networks in Rwanda. Sharing a coffee from Humure means sharing in the hard work and vision of both Stratton and Emmanuel; two people who continue to raise the bar for what’s possible in East African coffee.
