Francy has been working in the coffee industry since forever, starting at a very young age on the family farm alongside her four sisters. She pursued remote studies in agronomy while continuing her work on the farm, with the goal of providing support and management to the family business. She graduated in 2019. Since then, she has been working diligently to improve the quality and practices not only on her own land and her family's but also on the lands of over 900 producers of the region.
Our relationship with this coffee is quite special. During the summer of 2023, we (Fred, Max and Simon) had the opportunity to be welcomed in Colombia, in the region of Nariño, by none other than the remarkable Francy Castillo and her family. Following her enthusiastic steps and listening to her infectious laughter, we made our way to 2000 meters above sea level through a narrow and challenging trail to finally arrive at her coffee farm. The view through the mountains was incredible, and Francy's hospitality even more remarkable.
With much affection, we present to you our Francy's favorite coffee. A pink bourbon that we had the chance not only to taste directly from the cherry, but also later roasted by herself during a cupping session. The complexity of this coffee and its aromatic profile are incredible. From guava to pineapple, from rose to small white flower, a bright yet juicy acidity; it's a coffee that leaves an endless finish on the palate. It's lively, full of energy, and a true experience - much like our friend Francy Castillo herself.
