Geta Bore Cooperative is a member of the Kata Muduga Union—a group of the leading coffee cooperatives in the West of Ethiopia, mainly centered around Agaro. Geta Bore is one of the newest members of the union, but also one of the smallest—only 75 members as of 2022. In the past, members of the Geta Bore cooperative delivered their cherries to the well-known Biftu Gudina cooperative, located 8km north, or other nearby washing stations. They decided to form their own cooperative to reduce the difficulty and cost of transporting fresh cherries as well as to have a stronger role in the cooperative governance structure. Today, Geta Bore farmers can more easily access training services from Kata Muduga, and through the Union's model they receive both a cash payment upon cherry delivery and a second payment after coffee export.
